Project team

Peldon Rose partnered with OC&C Strategy Consultants to refurbish its City of London workplace, reflecting its focus on collaboration, community, and craftsmanship to provide exceptional strategy consultancy services.

The refurbishment brought together flexible working spaces, learning areas, and a hospitality-led floor dedicated to client hosting and social interaction.

This was a project four years in the making, driven by a shared passion between Peldon Rose and OC&C that enabled the creation of an exceptional workplace that embodies what a modern office should be; somewhere people can come together, build relationships, problem solve, and thrive in their roles.

A sustainable, people-centric office design built for modern consulting

OC&C set out to redefine its London headquarters, home to 400 employees across four floors, at a pivotal moment for professional services. While many continue to reassess the role of the office, OC&C remained clear: learning, collaboration, and face-to-face problem-solving are fundamental to consulting.

Taking inspiration from OC&Cs people-first approach, Peldon Rose set out to create a workplace that reflected how consultants operate day-to-day, supporting knowledge sharing, mentorship, and relationship-building while aligning with the firm’s long-term sustainability goals.

The space needed to feel warm and welcoming, balancing functionality with a strong sense of culture and community.

A carefully phased delivery balancing operational continuity and sustainable furniture integration

Construction and delivery took place across three phases and four floors, with the team implementing a programme that allowed OC&C to continue its operations with minimal disruption.

Furniture integration was a key area of focus, with the refurbishment bringing a sustainable relocation scheme requiring the team to stagger installation across the three phases. This brought a strong logistical challenge, with pieces being moved across floors and phases to ensure timely installation and minimal disruption to OC&C’s teams.

Materiality, textural variation, and understated visual appeal underpin the furniture pieces throughout the workplace, bridging comfort and functionality.

Rethinking space, light and materials to deliver a more sustainable, human-centred workplace

Peldon Rose embedded sustainability into the workplace. The team implemented a range of low impact strategies such as refurbishing and reusing existing ergonomic chairs, repurposing plywood from the previous fit-out, incorporating recycled materials into new furnishings, and specifying FSC-certified timber and durable materials for longevity.

Central to the design process was rethinking how space and light are distributed. Peldon Rose relocated Partner meeting rooms away from the building perimeter, allowing natural light to flow throughout the workplace and punctuate the open plan areas. The new layout promotes transparency, wellbeing, and connection, placing people firmly at the centre of the design.

Crafting a collaborative workplace hub with a bespoke reception design

The 14th floor acts as the heart of the office and features a welcoming coffee bar and social hub. Peldon Rose designed the floor with a hospitality mindset, dissolving traditional boundaries between clients and employees to facilitate serendipitous interaction and collaboration.

Flexible training and client rooms with folding walls sit adjacent to the coffee bar and act as a functional link between the meeting suites and social spaces. They offer versatility for a range of occasions such as seminars, all-hands meetings, and town hall presentations.

Anchoring the workplace, a sculptural reception desk inspired by Hida Chidori Goshi emerges as a celebration of precision and craft. Suspended within a glass enclosure, its intricate lattice dissolves into an infinite field, an optical illusion deepened by the reflective plane beneath. The result is captivating and cerebral: a spatial metaphor for OC&C’s approach to consultancy, where disparate pieces are interrogated, aligned, and ultimately resolved into solutions of exceptional clarity and impact.
