Unlocking transatlantic growth for a private equity firm

The time was now right for our client, a successful private equity firm, to enter the European market. The global brand appointed Peldon Rose to design and build a prestigious office that facilitated its expansion and brought an international workforce together.

Location Matters

Test fits were conducted by the Peldon Rose team across three potential London locations to help our client find its optimal office space. Elements such as natural light and building aspect were configured into an overarching fit factor, to compare buildings and discover how the client’s goals for international growth and end-user satisfaction would configure into a redesign of each space. The firm elected to take up a 6,000 sq ft position in the West End, an area home to many well-known names within London’s financial sector.

A Slice of the Big Apple

One of the project’s biggest priorities was ensuring that the London space mirrored the client’s New York offices in style and form, but that it was also a workspace where the UK team would feel at home.

The new design is functional at its core, and features high-end finishes that are synonymous with a flourishing financial institution. Marble on the boardroom table and walls, bespoke joinery, soft furnishings, and bronze-gold finishes all replicate design elements found in the firm’s New York properties. Acoustic glass in executive offices and double glazing in client meeting rooms provides a necessary degree of security, confidentiality, and exclusivity.

London remains an important element of the office’s identity. Tea points, an uncommon feature in US workspaces, have been installed in a style that continues the bronze and gold detailing characterising much of the wider space. Colour-matched taps rise out of stone countertops in a durable and robust design that sits in harmony with the rest of the workplace. White backsplash tiles, marble kitchen countertops, and cleverly inset kitchen appliances also help create a calm, clean-cut environment conducive to breaks throughout the day.

International communication efficiency

Maintaining an exceptional level of quality across every detail of the project for an international client was an exciting challenge for those involved. The client made only one initial visit to London at the beginning of the project, so material samples had to be agreed upon from overseas. This meant that streamlined and concise communications channels had to be in place to ensure that the project was completed within the provided time constraints. All of this work was carried out with a laser focus on the environmental impact of everything that goes into the space, so it should come as no surprise that the sustainability credentials of the project are of the highest standard – SKA Gold level.

Bottom Line

This is the client’s first office in Europe, and the new workspace demonstrates the company’s ambitions and goals within the market, laying the foundation for future growth. A commitment to delivering the highest quality ensures that the space has all the bespoke qualities of its New York counterpart, yet with a distinct and topical London edge and feel.
