Our client is a leading Global Reinsurance Provider. They wanted a workplace that would deliver a premium experience for visiting brokers, while providing their teams with modern, flexible facilities. Our role was to create a space that aligned with their brand identity, elevated the client journey, and supported employee wellbeing. The finished office combines a striking front of house, an exclusive broker’s lounge, and employee centric areas which promote wellness and collaboration.
Our relationship with the client began in 2019 and over time we built trust through early engagement. When the project was tendered, we were invited to compete against four other firms, including the incumbent. By presenting proactive concept layouts that clearly demonstrated our understanding of them as a business and how we could transform their space, we secured the project and continued to strengthen our partnership with the client.
The site was located directly beneath an occupied fourth floor, which meant we had to deliver with minimal disruption. Working in a live building required careful planning and constant communication with multiple landlords and the client team, who were often on site. To maintain business continuity and confidence, we ensured the site was always managed to the highest standards, coordinating logistics and noise control to deliver a smooth programme.
At the front of house, we created a bold arrival that reflects the design of the floor above, tying the two spaces together through blue accents and natural wood panelling. Visitors are welcomed into a curved wood joinery feature behind and above the reception desk, offering the choice to move directly into the workplace or into the exclusive broker lounge. A suite of meeting rooms, from a formal boardroom to smaller meeting rooms and Zoom-enabled spaces, support different client and team needs.
The broker's lounge is a premium, hospitality-led environment. It includes a fully stocked tea point with a large island to encourage conversations, complemented by an array of settings such as booths, high tables, and open seating to suit different styles of engagement. Biophilia was introduced throughout to bring a calm, welcoming atmosphere, while bespoke hanging acoustic features facilitates conversations taking place without disruption. A striking custom light installation above the island mirrors its shape, creating a memorable focal point and punctuating the overall sleek design.
For employees, the breakout area is the heart of the office. This open plan space includes multiple seating types, from high backed benches to soft furnishings, offering a variety of options for employees to relax. There is also a more private tea point enclosed by a clever glass partition which links the tea point table with the wider breakout, maintaining visual connectivity while giving teams choice over how they use the space. In the working areas, desks are positioned by natural light to enhance wellbeing, with a central high table offering variety of working choices and encouraging informal collaboration.
The new workplace delivers on the client’s ambition to create a space that serves both clients and employees. The design balances an exclusive, hospitality-inspired broker experience with modern, flexible employee areas that promote wellbeing and collaboration. Brand colours permeate the space, fostering a unique environment that articulates company identity. We managed the complex live build with precision, creating a workplace that strengthens relationships while supporting long-term business growth.
