Project team

MillTech, a fast-growing independent Foreign Exchange fintech business born out of currency investment manager Millennium Global Investments, were looking to establish a new London office to suit their style of working. Millennium previously collaborated with Peldon Rose in 2017, and having built a strong relationship through our Maintenance team, MillTech entrusted our SME & Furniture teams once again to deliver a new workspace in the heart of the City at 88 Wood Street that reflected their transformative, modern fintech organisation.

A modern workplace designed for hybrid working

Flexibility was key to the design. The boardroom, positioned with a direct view of St Paul’s cathedral and The Shard, provides a premium meeting experience, while two smaller meeting rooms and private director offices cater to different working styles. A striking tea point enclosed in glass maintains openness while offering a dedicated space for breaks, with resident style stools that offer a casual atmosphere. Key to the brief was also agility, with a workforce of 80 employees globally and a total of 32 desks, the office embraces the modern shift toward hybrid working.

A future-proofed workspace for innovation and growth

The final design is a striking departure from Millennium’s previous corporate office, now embracing a forward-thinking aesthetic that balances technology and wellness. The open-plan layout embraces the workplace’s panoramic views, and maximises natural light, ensuring all workspaces are positioned adjacent to external glazing for optimal views of London’s skyline. A branded putting strip that spans the length of the open plan area imbues the space with MillTech’s unique culture.

A striking first impression in the heart of London

The entrance lounge area was designed to reflect the bold modern vision of MillTech. A directional chevron ceiling and LED track lighting create a dynamic sense of movement, guiding users through the space, while a sleek water feature provides a calming focal point, setting the tone for the office whilst linking with their theme of providing access to market liquidity. The entrance lounge also doubles as a breakout area, with a variety of low-profile movable furniture that offer flexibility for ad-hoc meetings or to make space for a table tennis table, neatly hidden away in a storage cupboard when not in use. This bold design extends to the washrooms, with terrazzo resin flooring providing a high-end finish.

Precision in construction and a commitment to quality

The project involved a full transformation from Shell & Core to Cat A and Cat B fit-out in the striking Richard Rogers designed building. Working in a multi-tenant high-rise building on the 15th floor, careful logistical planning was necessary, ensuring compliance with restrictive drilling hours and noise regulations. We coordinated closely with the landlord’s team, ensuring all construction elements, from raised access flooring and partitions to new fan coils, M&E installations, and bespoke WCs aligned with Cat A specifications. Despite the complexities, we delivered a seamless fit-out while minimising disruption to other tenants.

Furnishing with purpose and a care for sustainability

Sustainability was at the heart of the design, with 90% of furniture used being repurposed. This involved undertaking a survey of all existing furniture for space planning, working in tandem with Project Managers The Workspace Consultants, to ensure all necessary furniture would fit in the 3,000 sq ft space. The new furniture chosen by our dedicated furniture team was chosen with purpose, not only from a design perspective, but also a necessity for functionality within the workplace.
