A creative collaboration for MOO's new workplace

Peldon Rose were selected to create the new 33,000 sq ft London office at 20 Farringdon Road for MOO, having already delivered several similar major office design and build projects in London.

Partnership and collaboration was key with this project with; Peldon Rose working alongside MOO’s interior design agency Trifle Creative*, landlords of the new office Derwent and CBRE, who were the independent client-side Project Manager and Cost Consultant. Working with these professional teams, we undertook the complete CAT A landlord works, overhauling the building and stripping it back to shell and core to provide the base framework that the striking creative vision would be built upon.

By working in collaboration with trifle*, who had an excellent understanding of MOO’s identity, we were able to create a design vision which was both visually impressive and unique. Throughout the project we never lost sight of the prime objective; to enhance the working lives of everyone who works for MOO.

The design uses an understated and timeless colour palette to allow the bright Pantone accent colours to shine through, creating bold, enticing pockets of space. This colour scheme was included throughout the office including the individual meeting rooms themed around type faces.

The integrity of materials was key to compliment the MOO brand, prioritising natural raw materials wherever possible and keeping them in their natural state. Key design features in the office include spacious bright atrium spaces – one of which provided inspiration for creating one of the largest library walls in London, measuring 20ft high and 35ft wide. Another key feature is the central spine running through the office which features over 500 panels of Colorplan paper. The panels of paper are 2100 gsm and are made up of 26 different tones which creates an eye catching rainbow effect that forms a focal point in the office.

Peldon Rose pulled together key teams from our business including project management, technical design, mechanical and electrical and cost control to deliver this significant office design and build programme. The project included replacing all mechanical, lighting and electrical services as well as flooring. We also removed all of the suspended ceilings, then sprayed the concrete soffit, and all of the new HVAC services, crisp white. In total the build project involved 22 subcontractors and over 28,000 man hours, 6,500 litres of paint and 160,000 feet of data cables.

Steve Taylor, Project Director at Peldon Rose says: “We loved working alongside Emma and the Trifle Creative team to develop and deliver a truly special new office for MOO. Taking on a build project of this scale certainly didn’t daunt us and through attentive project management, and the support of CBRE and Derwent, we were able to reduce the build programme from over 20 weeks to 19 so MOO could start enjoying their new workplace even earlier”.
