Philippine National Bank (PNB) wanted a new head office in London that they could be proud of. Relocating their office from Vauxhall, they wanted a refreshing space that offered a more uplifting experience for both clients and staff, celebrating the charm of their proud Filipino culture.
Prior to starting on site we worked with PNB for 12 months, assisting them with negotiations with their landlord, creating concept designs and exploring how we could work with the existing building infrastructure in a way that maximised space and minimised costs.
Inside, we pay tribute to the Filipino culture with traditional artwork, bright colour palette and distinguished walnut panelling to add an extra touch of style. Our design features clean, simple lines to create a refined and professional environment that matches all aspects of PNB’s business. Throughout the office, our in-house furniture team provided workstations, soft-seating and meeting room furniture which complement the design. On the ground floor of the building is their main front of house. Here, customer experience is key. Firstly, we installed back-lit signage on the exterior of the building to create a professional, eye-catching welcome for customers.
In addition to the bank teller area, there is a seating area for more informal conversations as well as a private meeting room for more confidential discussions. This room also doubles up as a private temporary office for international visitors.
Naturally, special security measures were an important part of this project. Fitted with bandit proof glass, controlled access points and an extensive camera network, the new space is a safe and secure environment for all.
Having previously worked in a smaller cellular office environment, it was essential that we created somewhere which brought staff together. In addition to creating an open plan workspace, separate offices are fitted with glass walls to ensure they feel part of the business while still providing an element of privacy. To help create a bright and uplifting workspace, we focused on reflecting light and installed colourful manifestations that draw inspiration from their culture and company logo.
One of the key challenges we had to overcome during our 10-week build programme was the building’s low ceilings. By redesigning the office around the existing services, we were able to minimise wasted space and create an additional 36cm of height.
