When is an office not an office? When it is transformed into a lively event space, complete with DJ, a bar and saxophonist, of course. Nexus Underwriting officially opened their doors to nearly 200 people to mark the official launch of their office.
During the early stages of the project, Nexus' vision was to have a broker lounge which would draw brokers and clients from Leadenhall Street and double as an event space. This versatility encapsulates the vibrant atmosphere of Nexus as they look to attract the best talent in the industry. The age-old phrase 'work hard, play hard' doesn't quite embrace the cutting-edge ethos at Nexus, but the new office design certainly showcases the firm's understanding of how to provide their people with a space that supports their work, but also gives them a destination they can be proud to be associated with.
For this space to be created, the property at 52-56 Leadenhall Street underwent a huge transformation. Having housed the London Metal Exchange in the past, there were some stunning architectural details we were able to incorporate into the design. Over the 16-week build programme, we stripped the building back to shell and core before carrying out both Cat A, and Cat B works to deliver an office design that breaks away from the traditional expectations of an insurance firm in the City.
