The tape measure is part and parcel of the modern world, not to mention an essential tool in the interior design industry. As a measure of its success, National Tape Measure Day is celebrated on the 14th July. It marks the date in 1868 that Alvin J. Fellows received his patent for his improved design of the original spring tape measure.
